The 2012 Emmy Nominations were announced this morning with Idris Elba, Don Cheadle and Maya Rudolph among the contenders. Get the deets inside.....
Earlier this morning, Kerry Washington and Jimmy Kimmel announced the 2012 Emmy Nominations at the television academy's Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre.
As the announcements came at 5:40 this morning (L.A. time) Jimmy showed up in his PJs! For the YBF folks, Idris Elba and Maya Rudolph led the way as both collected nods for their work this year.
Idris Elba was nominated for Lead Actor Mini Series or Movie for "Luther" while the show itself was nominated for Outstanding Mini Series or Movie.
Idris recently posted to Facebook,
A special thank you to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for recognizing LUTHER and myself today with Emmy nominations. I'm proud of my team, not to mention humbled to be in such good company...but I am also jazzed and I can't stop smiling! "Like" this post if you're smiling too.
Funnywoman Maya Rudolph picked up a nod for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series for her hosting gig on "SNL."
Don Cheadle is up for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on "House of Lies" and Giancarlo Esposito got a nod for his supporting role on "Breaking Bad."
And the cast of "30 Rock" featuring Tracy Morgan picked up a nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Also, "The Voice" featuring Cee-Lo Green was nominated for Best Competition Reality Show.
For those wondering why Kerry and her hit show "Scandal" didn't get any nods, we think it was a timing issue as the show debuted later in the season.
See the full list of nods here.
